Description
While the manufacturer do not officially describe the R58 as “better” (they prefer to say “different design philosophy”) than the other machines in their premium domestic lineup, it goes without saying that this type of machine is the most advance semi-automatic you can get in terms of features.
Independently operating dual boilers and superior thermo siphon system design allows for unprecedented stability in the espresso boiler with increased levels of both steam pressure and hot water supply available from the independent service boiler.
Since the temperature in the steam boiler can be set separately from the coffee boiler you can choose whether you want higher steam pressure or lower water temperature from the hot water wand, for you americano’s and similar drinks. This dual temperature control is simply not possible in a heat exchanger machine (even with PID).
The steam boiler (or “service boiler” as Rocket calls it) can also be completely turned off, without the performance of the coffee boiler being affected whatsoever. When both boilers are turned on the heating elements are working one at a time.
In accordance with Rocket Espresso’s design philosophy the PID control display isn’t mounted in plain view on the front of the machine – on the R58 the display is actually detachable and plugs in to the left side of the machine with a parallel cable, whenever you want to make adjustments. The machine will remember the current setting without the display and cable constantly attached, you only need to connect it when you want to make adjustments (see video presentation).
Last but not least, the machine can bee installed to use either the built in cold water tank or with direct water connection. Both water and drain hoses needed are included in the package.
Included accessories: Full size commercial one and two cup filter handles and baskets. One blind filter. Metal tamper. Two different style steam tips, 4-hole and 2-hole. Microfiber towel. Group cleaning brush. Water connection and drain hoses. Full training guide and instructions (CD and manual).
