Order, purchase, payment
The machine I want is not available in the online store (or in stock), can I custom order it?
Yes, from our main suppliers (Rocket, ECM, Izzo) we can custom order all machines included in the range. Request more information about price and delivery time by email.
When do I pay for a custom order?
A custom order becomes binding sales agreement when the factory has confirmed the order. However, if the delivery time is several weeks, you do not need to pay until a few days before we can deliver the product.
Can I pay by credit card?
Yes, via the Mobilepay application.
Do you offer instalment payment?
No, unfortunately not.
I live in Sweden (or another EU country), can I order from you?
The online store currently only allows you to place orders for delivery in Finland. However, some goods may also be shipped to other EU countries. Please contact us with your wishes by e-mail and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Can I get an discount offer on a machine?
You can find our active special offers here. If you are looking for a similar combination of espresso machine, grinder and accessories that are not listed there, we can give you a similar offer for other combinations. For individual machines and products, the price stated in the online store applies.
Why are the shipping costs so high?
Did you combine coffee and other products in the same shopping cart? Since the coffee is delivered directly from Italy to you (not from Espressivo’s own warehouse), a special fee is then added just for the coffee. Each individual roastery has its own fees for this. The point is to get the coffee delivered as freshly roasted as possible.
For other deliveries: many of our espresso machines are heavy and delivered in large boxes, which are not cheap to ship. The heaviest machines (e.g. Rocket Cinquantotto, ECM Synchronika) cannot be sent by Posti or Matkahuolto, but must be delivered with some other forwarding service.
In addition, for espresso machines and coffee grinders, we usually use the additional service for fragile packages that raises the shipping price by about ten euros. For a valuable machine, we think this is a reasonable extra safety measure.
Warranty, repair, service
Can I buy spare parts too?
Yes, common parts such as group gaskets, shower screens etc. we usually have readily in stock. We can also special order parts from the manufacturer (in case of special order of spare parts, an additional shipping fee will apply).
What do I do if my machine needs service/repair?
First, contact Espressivo by email with a description of your problem. Often the problem can be fixed quite easily by replacing a few parts. If necessary, it is also possible to return the machine to us for repair. We charge 30 euros for troubleshooting and 40 euros per hour for repair work. After troubleshooting, we always give you a quote before we move forward with actual repairs.
There are also several other companies in Finland that offer service of espresso machines. Outside the scope of the product warranty, you can of course hire any of these.
How long is the product guarantee and where are the machines repaired?
The length of the guarantee is stated for each product under the “More information” tab on each product page. Most machine manufacturers have a warranty of 1 or 2 years. Consumables such as coffee and cleaning products do not come with a product warranty.
The machines are repaired at Espressivo’s premises in Korsholm, Finland. Depending on the nature of the fault, we can also send new parts instead of having the entire machine returned. Familiarize yourself with the full warranty terms here.
Shouldn’t the guarantee under EU law be at least two years?
In Finland, a guarantee is an additional voluntary commitment. Instead, EU requirements are met via a statutory liability for lack of conformity, which gives the consumer even stronger protection than the EU requires. Read more about statutory liability in the following question and on the Website of the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority.
What is the difference between guarantee and statutory liability?
In Finland, the seller/manufacturer is responsible for certain defects that occur after the voluntary warranty period. This responsibility has no formal upper time limit but is based on how long a good or a certain part of a good can be expected to last, provided that it has been used correctly. When the criterion is met, the buyer has the right to have the defect repaired free of charge. If the seller can no longer be of service, the responsibility can be transferred to the manufacturer.
Note that this must be assessed on a case-by-case basis. The Consumer Authority exemplifies with a refrigerator: “if a refrigerator thermostat becomes faulty after it has been used for four years, it is normally not considered a defect. However, if the fault is found in the compressor, it may be considered a defect because a compressor can be expected to last for up to four years or longer.”
Similarly, on an espresso machine, a boiler heating element element – as long as the consumer has not mismanaged the machine or kept it running without water in it – should last for at least four years without any problems. However, it is not uncommon for a pump to wear out so much that it needs to be replaced after only five years, if the machine has been in frequent use.
It is also normal that wear parts such as gasket, various valves, pressurestats, thermostats and more may need to be replaced every few years. Defects caused by limescale deposits or various forms of carelessness with cleaning and maintenance also do not entitle to free repair.
